Awareness about Plagiarism among the Student of Higher Educational Institutions: Reflections of a Case Study Conducted at Ibra College of Technology, Oman |  Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting

Plagiarism has recently become a big issue in higher education institutions. With the expansion of modern means of publishing, students and researchers can easily acquire material from a variety of internet sources, which has led in plagiarism, inadequate citation, created data, imitation, cheating, and a variety of other forms of academic misconduct. According to the literature, many students in higher education institutions are unaware of the research and writing process. This misunderstanding might lead to students plagiarising academic work without realising the consequences. This is frequently due to students’ and researchers’ lack of awareness and research abilities. Because students do not prepare it themselves and do not work hard for it, this crime can produce a variety of issues, including a reduction in the degree of thinking, creativity, and productivity. The goal of this study is to find out how students feel about plagiarism and how much they know about it. During the academic year 2019-20, this research was carried out at the Business Department of the Sultanate of Oman’s University of Technology and Applied Science (Ibra College of Technology).
